Sleep Innovations seems a sort of company responding slowly to trend. It finally released their gel foam mattress after most competitions put gel mattresses into the market. Sleep Innovations Marley 12-Inch Gel Memory Foam Mattress is well suited for people who usually sleep hot at night. Gel top and mid airflow layer improve performance in maintaining comfortable sleeping temperature. It has the common characteristic most gel foam have, which is it is firmer than standard foam bed. If you are looking for a firm bed made in USA, you should look no further. Of course, it has all advantages of memory foam mattress like less motion transfer, helpful for back pain, etc.

Sleep Innovations Marley 12-inch is a three layer design memory foam mattress including 2-inch gel memory foam, 3-inch airflow foam middle layer and 7-inch firm support base. Top gel memory foam is aimed at reducing heat trapped by your body and delivering to middle layer quickly. The second airflow layer is focusing on dissipating heat transferred from the top layer. The only purpose of the foam base is to provide firm support for layers above and your body. Thicker foam base is a feature of Sleep Innovations. Many brands use thinner base or multiple layers as support base but these constructions can’t give firm enough support for above layers and sleepers. The thick firm support base is also an important factor making Sleep Innovations mattress feel firmer.

Features of Sleep Innovations Marley 12-Inch Memory Foam Mattress

Firmness grade: 8 (1-10 softest to firmest)

Many manufacturers are trying to hold up their products as models well-suited for most customers but most fail. Sleep Innovations claimed that Sleep Innovations Marley 12-inch gel memory foam mattress is medium to medium firm, but the truth is firm actually. The old model, Sleep Innovations Sure Temp foam mattress, has a “firm” reputation among owners. Now the new model is using the gel foam as top layer, which is firmer than standard memory foam. So this gel swirl foam mattress feels firm and owner reviews also told the same truth. Don’t expect the mattress to give your much “cradling feeling”, or you will be disappointed.

Cooling sleep

This Sleep Innovations mattress is the only model using gel foam. Before this mattress release, many owners mentioned old models retained body heat and slept hot in summer, though Sleep Innovations used “SureTemp” feature as advertised. SureTemp didn’t work on some people. This Sleep Innovations 12-inch gel swirl model is designed to solve the sleeping hot issue. From customer reviews, this gel foam does better than SureTemp and keeps a comfortable temperature on the bed. But you have to know that gel memory foam isn’t a solution for all people and it can only reduce heat trap not remove. If you feel very hot on a spring mattress, you’re more likely sleeping hot on Sleep Innovations Marley 12-inch gel mattress.

Offgassing

Sleep Innovations doesn’t make their mattresses to take the CertiPUR test as their competitions LUCID. It seems Sleep Innovations should have done that because some customers complained they were bothered by off-gassing of this 12-Inch Gel memory foam. Especially sensitive people don’t like it. The instructions should indicate that the mattress needs a few days for off-gassing before you put it to use.

Made in USA & reliable

Some people care more about whether an item is made in USA or imported. All Sleep Innovations mattresses are made in USA and it meets all American quality standards. In low-priced mattress market, only a few brands make their mattresses in the USA and Sleep Innovations is one of them. This Marley 12-inch gel swirl memory foam mattress is made with high quality material and in strict manufacturing process. They have better quality control in production and their mattress lasts longer compared to cheap China-made foam. There is but very few people complaining mattress losing firmness or sagging in two years. That type of complaints is very easy to hear among owners of china-made foam. Besides, to buy US made mattress can help Americans get or keep their jobs.

Return policy

Sleep Innovations doesn’t sell mattresses themselves but on several sales channels such as Amazon, Walmart, Target, Wayfair, Home Depot and Sears. That being said, the return policy and free trial are different. Amazon always offers 30 day free return for mattresses sold by them and Walmart offers free return time frame of 90 days. Before you pull the trigger, check out your selected retailer’s return policy.

No free trial and 10 year limited warranty details

Sleep Innovations doesn’t offer free trial for their products so if you want to return the mattress after receive the mattress, you need to contact the platform owner like Amazon. The return cost is about $90 for a king size. Generally, Sleep Innovations doesn’t accept return and you can only place a warranty claim for replacement or repair.

Here we will show you some important details about warranty.

Issues of Sleep Innovations Marley 12-inch Gel Memory Foam Mattress

Too firm

Nearly all complaints mentioned the firmness and told it was too hard to sleep. Sleep Innovations rated it medium firm that may mislead some customers. Mattress is a personal and subjective thing. It’s not a mattress for all. If you don’t feel soft or contouring comfort, get a soft topper and you will have the cozy sinking feel.

Sleeping hot

Gel foam only can reduce heat on the mattress not remove all so it would be expected that some really hot-natured people will not have a cool sleep.

Sleep Innovations Marley VS Sleep Innovations Shiloh

Material difference

Sleep Innovations Shiloh and Marley have same height, 12 inches. But some materials they use are different. Shiloh consists of 2.5 inch regular memory foam and 9.5 inch support foam; Marley has three layers, 2” gel memory foam, 2” air channel foam and 8” same foam as Shiloh.

Firmness difference

Two mattresses are on firm side but Sleep Innovations Shiloh is less firm of two. That means you sink in a little on Shiloh and the mattress conform to your shape slightly but you’re more likely never to have that experience on Marley. I would not recommend Marley to people of small build.

Experience difference

It’s one of Sleep Innovations mattresses trying to reduce body heat retention. It’s using gel memory foam and convoluted middle layer to help heat dissipate. It accelerates heat transfer in memory foam and works for most people. It performs better in regulating temperature than Shiloh.

Price difference

Sleep Innovations Marley 12-inch costs about $100 more. You need to decide for you if extra $100 is worth extra firmness and better breathability.
