14-inch Sleep InnovationsSleep Innovations Shiloh 14-inch memory foam mattress was an updated model released in 2013 and renamed in 2015 from Sleep Innovations 14-inch SureTemp memory foam mattress. They just renamed it Shiloh and didn’t make any other changes. It’s still using 2.5-inch SureTemp regular memory foam, 2.5-inch air channel foam and 9-inch foam base. Simple design is a special feature Sleep Innovations mattresses have. They don’t cut Shiloh into several complicated layers but only three. The manufacturer rates it medium-soft but the actual feel is firmer. Sleep Innovations mattresses are usually firmer than other brands. If you like a firmer experience, you won’t go wrong with it. Shiloh is also one of a few memory foam mattresses 100% made in the USA. High quality and reliability could be expected and definitely better than cheap China made foam. Of course, it costs more.

Features of Sleep Innovations Shiloh 14-Inch Memory Foam Mattress

Firmness grade: 7 or 8 (1-10 softest to firmest)

Sleep Innovations claimed that 14-inch memory foam mattress is the softest mattress among all products and rated it medium-soft. But product specifications and owner experience don’t support it. It’s more on the firm side and feels firm from the edge to the center. But it’s not very hard. It allows you to sink in and get uniformly support. Don’t expect it will cradle your shape as well as the soft bed. It’s very good for people who like a supportive bed.  If you are looking for a firm mattress, this one is worth a try.

You may sleep hot

When many other brands are updating regular memory foam to gel foam, Sleep Innovations is still using on most models. Shiloh is still using their SureTemp regular memory foam. It has a 2.5-inch air channel middle layer to help air and heat exchange but the effect is very limited. Gel infused foam is so far the most effective way to reduce heat. Therefore, if you’re a really hot-natured person and sleeping hot on spring mattress, you may also sleep hot on this one. Most people who have normal temperature on any mattress will less probably have the issue.

Made in the USA and high quality

The number of mattresses 100% made in the USA is very few in low priced mattress market. Sleep Innovations Shiloh 14-inch is a US made product. Made in the USA products are required to meet US higher safety standards and stricter quality guidelines but nobody can make sure if those foams imported from China meet US standards. Like other Sleep Innovations models, Shiloh has very few consumer complaints about its quality and that forms a sharp contrast to China foam brands and models. It goes without saying that US made model is always our first choice.

No CertiPur-US

Most memory foam mattress brands send their foam to CertiPur-US program to get products certified. CertiPur-US certified foam is free of known toxins like formaldehyde, PBDEs, CFCs, etc. Many customers consider CertiPur-US certification as an important factor of mattress selection. However, neither Sleep Innovations Shiloh 14-inch nor all other Sleep Innovations models have the certification seal. This brand doesn’t advertise too much or let buyers know they have removed all unknown toxins during manufacturing process and meet CertiPur-US standards. Their mattresses don’t need the seal to prove anything. They just don’t give a s**t. Many China made foams get certified but still give out a strong chemical odor.

Good for big persons

14-inch mattress is a big and thick mattress and could be an ideal choice for big guy. People over weight couldn’t find proper support and comfort on the thinner mattress. Only the thicker models can provide what they need. But thick mattress has downside. Thicker memory foam usually releases more smell when it’s unwrapped. So before sleep on it, let it air for a few days.

Warranty details you need to know

Sleep Innovations Shiloh comes with 10 year limited warranty. Honestly, it’s a common warranty not featuring any special terms. However, there’re a few important details you need to know. Don’t open or close the zipper because it’s only designed to be used in manufacturing process. Don’t remove the cover for any reason and you need to buy an extra a stain resistant and waterproof cover to protect the mattress. The warranty only covers 1.5 inches indentations or more not does a normal increase of softness over time.

Issues of Sleep Innovations Shiloh 14-inch Memory Foam Mattress

Soft edge

The edge isn’t reinforced and just foam like the rest of the bed. It’s easy to slide off. If you often toss and turn at night or sleep close to the edge, you may fall off the bed.
