Zinus memory foam green tea mattress is offering us another great option in competitive low-priced mattress market. You may notice the phrase “green tea” in the title but it’s just one of the sales gimmicks. The feature doesn’t help mattress become more comfortable, durable, or something. This mattress has little difference with Sleep Master models because they’re sub-brands under Zinus and manufactured in Zinus factories. And their support personnel confirmed that in their reply to a buyer’s question. Except the gimmick, it’s an excellent memory foam mattress. It gives many people the feeling like sleeping in the cloud and improves some persons’ bad back problems. Now it’s only available in three heights, 8-inch, 10-inch and 12-inch. It doesn’t add any special feature to fight against heat retention issue like gel foam so some hot sleepers would expect warmth on the bed. Let’s move onto details.

Zinus Memory Foam Green Tea Mattress Details

Unbeatable price

Low price is the biggest selling point of Zinus mattress not the green tea feature. They sell 12-inch memory foam mattress at the same price as other brand 10-inch models. They waged a price war and it could be expected that more brands will join. We customers are very pleased to see that. One reason why they have a lower price strategy is they’re manufacturer and seller and using their own brand. There is no middleman in between making money. You may not know that many low priced mattresses out there are manufactured in China and labeled USA seller brands. These mattresses are priced higher to maintain good margin.

How does it feel? Firm or soft

12-inch Zinus memory foam green tea mattress combines several layers, 3-inch memory foam top comfort layer, 2-inch comfort foam plus 7 inch base support foam. Thick comfort layer and thin support core are telling us they’re on the soft side and can make sleepers sleep like in a cloud. Both owners reports and Zinus personnel reply confirm that their 12-inch feels soft-medium, 10-inch and 8-inch models are firmer. For people who like soft feeling, go for the thickest one.

Heavy people get comfort and support

As for Zinus 12-inch memory foam mattress, people over 200 lbs usually sink in about 2 to 3 inches. The mattress forms a deep impression to cradle body shape and that helps distribute weight pressure and fill the gap between body and mattress. Therefore, people who have shoulders, back or hips issues experience an improvement and sound sleep with less toss and turn. However, deep impression brings inconvenience and it makes it difficult to get up or move on the bed.

Zinus Memory Foam Green Tea Mattress Downsides

Heat retention

A few owners report they feel a bit warmer on the mattress and they use an extra wool layer or mattress pad to fix it.

Smelly

Although this mattress is featured by green tea extract, there are still quite a few owners complained about the strong smell. You need to give the mattress more time to air out. Leave windows and door open for 5-7 days. Six months ago, I bought a new memory foam mattress and left it on the floor nearly two weeks for airing out. When I placed it on bed frame, it’s still detectable but very slight. Sometimes, the mattress just needs more days.

Can I sleep on it after 12 hours or is it too early affecting the bed’s ability to gain its proper form?

Dont worry about that. Once you find your mattress expand fully you can sleep on it. Some mattresses expand slowly and you need to wait 72 hours at best.

Hi William, I have something to say about this mattress. I own 12-inch queen size three months. Overall,it’s a great mattress and very comfortable but it’s holding up heat.
