Rating: 3.5/5 (42 votes cast)

Ultimate Dreams 13 inch Gel Memory Foam Mattress is a 5 stars bed and owners are quite satisfied with it. Many compare this mattress to TEMPUR-Cloud Luxe at the respect of comfort scale. They bought it after tried out Cloud model at local stores. This 13″ Ultimate Dreams is softer opposite to other gel memory foam mattresses. That said, it is well suited for people who prefer a soft supper and a supportive base. 3-inch 4 lb gel memory foam helps reduce heat trapping to ensure a cool sleep. Dreamfoam bedding is using 2-inch 5lb memory foam in the middle to add extra cushion and support. This mattress costs a little more than competitors importing Chinese foam but the price is still reasonable. US made quality is definitely worth extra money. it doesn’t cost too much, about 1/5 of the expensive brand. It’s an American made mattress and comes with very little smell.

DreamFoam Mattress Ultimate Dreams 13 Inch Gel Memory Foam Mattress Features

Firmness grade: 4 or 5 (1-10 softest to firmest)

Although 13-inch Ultimate Dreams mattress is a gel memory foam, it is on the softer side rather than the firm side. The top layer is softer than most gel memory foam on other mattresses and allows sleepers to sink in. The 2-inch memory foam in center provides a useful buffer for people of different weights. The 8-inch gives solid support. Such combination makes people feel soft yet very supportive. Persons who prefer a soft and supportive bed, especially the side sleepers who need a soft supper, will find this mattress very comfortable.

Sleep hot or not

Thanks to 3-inch gel memory foam, Ultimate Dreams 13-inch mattress could reduce body heat gathering on the bed and give you a cool sleep. However, gel infusion technology can’t remove the issue for all and some owners still sleep hot. Generally, sleeping hot or not has nothing to do with your weight. People over 300 lbs can sleep cool but those around 200 lbs can’t. We can only say if you sleep hot on other types of mattress, you more probably do on this bed too.

Return policy & free trial

Dreamfoam bedding is primarily selling mattresses on the internet and you buy their products sight unseen. It’s important to know what return policy the company has. They give 90 day free trial to purchase through their site and within 90 days of your delivery date you can all your money back. You aren’t responsible for transportation or restocking fees. All you need to do is picking up a plastic mattress bag to seal it up. If you buy from Amazon, it only applies to Amazon 30 day free return policy. Amazon may or not charge you shipping fee up to $99.

Warranty details

Dreamfoam Bedding used to offering 20 year limited warranty to all mattresses but now the length decreases to 10 years. Their warranty is the same as most brands’ out there. Customers pay shipping fees to and from factory. The warranty covers defects and 1.5-inch visible indentation but normal increase of softness isn’t included. The mattress needs to be placed on a proper support system, which requires at least five legs with rigid center support for Queen or King sets. Wood slats should be less than 3 inches apart.

Not over-hype: equivalent to the Tempurpedic Cloud Luxe

NEARLY ALL OWNERS mention Ultimate Dreams 13″ Gel Memory Foam Mattress is equivalent to the Tempurpedic Cloud Luxe. If you are worried about buying a mattress on the internet before trying out, you can go to the brick-and-mortar stores and test drive the name brand model. Since Ultimate Dreams 13″ is using gel memory foam upper, it feels a little bit firmer than the Cloud Luxe, which doesn’t use gel memory foam.

100% made in USA

These days, it’s not easy to find a US made mattress at an affordable price. Ultimate Dreams 13″ gel mattress is one of few brands manufacturing mattresses in USA. And more importantly, all components in this bed are made in USA. You don’t need to worry about its durability or longetivity.

Little smell

This gel memory foam mattress isn’t as smelly as other memory foam mattresses. It’s because the company adopts different stocking and shipping process. It only compresses the mattress when you place an order. In this way, there is much less smell left in the compressed mattress and the smell doesn’t linger for long time in your house after pulled out of the box.

How much does it cost?

Ultimate Dreams 13″ Gel Memory Foam is made by Dreamfoam Bedding, a small manufacturer. It doesn’t need to add too much ad cost into the price as big boys do. The Queen size TEMPUR-Cloud Luxe is over 3K, while the Ultimate Dreams is about 19% of the price.

Ultimate Dreams 13 Inch Gel Memory Foam Mattress Downside

Too soft

The primary complaint about Ultimate Dreams 13-Inch gel mattress is it’s too soft. It can’t provide enough support for sleepers. Owners report their body isn’t well supported as heavy parts are sinking in too much but legs and arms are floating above.

Lose support in 2 or 3 years

Dreamfoam Bedding claims the mattress is 100% made in the USA but it seems the quality control still has room for the improvement. Among complaints, a few people report their mattress break in the next year after a whole comfortable year. The quality and durability isn’t like what a US made product is supposed to have.

Where can I buy Ultimate Dreams 13″ Gel Memory Foam Mattress?

If you like the comfort scale of sleeping on TEMPUR-Cloud Luxe, give it a try. You back may be not able to tell the difference but your budget can. This 13″ Ultimate Dreams is not available on other online stores except Amazon.

Mattress details

  • Sizes: Twin, Full, Queen, King, California King, Twin XL
  • 3″ 4 pounds memory foam upper
  • 2″ 5 pounds memory foam center
  • 8″ foam base

I believe Ultimate Dreams 13 Inch is a super comfortable mattress. Owners are very satisfied with the comfort it brings. Even those who complain about quality confirm that it’s a really cozy mattress in first one or two years before breaking down. But the durability issue is really worth fully consideration of Dreamfoam and us customers. Another part is their price isn’t competitive. Compared with the imported Olee Sleep Galaxy 13-inch Hybrid, US-made Ultimate Dreams 13 Inch makes us feel it’s not well worth the price and they seem to share similar quality control. And more importantly, when owners want to make a warranty claim, Dreamfoam seems not to deal with the issue well. Hope they have been aware of the problem and put customers and service first.

I did some research on mattresses from Amazon and finally settled down on this Dreamfoam 13″ gel memory foam mattress. But we can’t decide between cal king and king size because both have the same price right now. What’s the difference? cal king is larger?

    • admin says:

      Hi Celeste,
The only difference is the size. Cal King is 72 x 84 inches and King size is 75 x 80. Which one to choose is depending on what you want from the bed, width or length. The former gives you extra length while the latter adds extra width.

  2. Jeramy says:

it’s a plush bed? There is no store selling this brand in my city so I can’t lie on to test drive. I’m just not brave to buy a product I don’t touch before.

      Hi Jeramy,
Yes, it’s a bit on the soft side but not overly. If you’re not sure about it, go to local stores to test drive Tempur cloud luxe and it feels very close to this bed.
